CLOWN ECKIE and the 'GIFT OF HAPPINESS FOUNDATION'
Clown Eckie is well known around Bangkok where he has been delighting children and amusing parents and teachers with his appearances at International schools, hotels and parties. He also performs free shows at a variety of worthy venues around Bangkok and all over Thailand.
EVENTS ORGANIZED BY CLOWN ECKIE AND THE GIFT OF HAPPINESS FOUNDATION FUNDED BY PUBLIC DONATIONS GIFT OF HAPPINESS FOUNDATION Clown Eckie and his board of trustees have been working hard on the development of the foundation since 2005. Full registration with the Thailand government was finally achieved for this 'not for profit' charitable organisation in 2009. This officially recognised foundation, is now actively seeking to give more happiness to many more needy people in Thailand. Eckie and all other volunteers receive no payment for their dedication to this work and all donations are used for the sole purpose of helping others.
(Clown Eckie writes) Since my arrival in Thailand ten years ago, I have been exploring ways to use my talents to help others, rather than concentrating only on commercial bookings. Back in 2003, I was asked to perform for some of the children at a large orphanage in Bangkok...After my show, which I do mostly in mime, one of the volunteer carers told me that the children were very concerned that I could not speak. I was touched by this, but in the next breath, the volunteer told me that all the children were suffering from AIDS and many would probably not be there to see my show next year...This comment did more than simply touch my heartstrings. It made me emphatically decide to devote much more of my time to bringing a little laughter and cheer to the thousands of children in Thailand who are living in difficult circumstances and normally have little chance to enjoy such simple pleasures...I now have many similar memories which remind me how fortunate I am to be able to offer the gift of laughter to so many of these children and their carers.

Although this is all about fun, it was quite moving to see him draw these children out and get them to participate.
His modest and self-deprecating manner is appealing and his
range of tricks is wide and varied and accomplished with expertise.
Clearly, he could relate to any audience. Overall, a polished
performer, and a lot of fun both for children and their parents.
A GREAT DAY OF FUN AT NO COST TO THE NEEDY ...Beneficiaries are in Bangkok and some rural parts of Thailand. They include children with HIV, orphans, refugees around the Thai/Burmese border, children with physical or learning disabilities, children living in slums and small groups of street children who often enjoy one of Eckie's impromptu shows. Of course the guardians, doctors, nurses, teachers and volunteer workers always enjoy the silliness when we present the great day of fun.
